| GMA Acrylic Crosslinking |
 |
The unique chain length of Dodecanedioic Acid (DDDA) makes it ideally suited for cross-linking applications.
DDDA is used as the cross-linker in the majority of all GMA acrylic powder coating formulations. These coatings, used as clear coats in automotive end uses and as base coats in a variety of general metal applications, have superior properties and overall cost advantages for the OEM. DDDA has melt and flow characteristics similar to those of the GMA acrylic resin and it imparts better toughness, gloss, durability, flexibility and chemical resistance to the finished coating than do shorter chain diacids.

Here the long carbon chain diamine provides excellent dynamic behavior in finished parts that are exposed to severe operating conditions such as turbocharger hoses in automotive applications. In such under-the-hood applications, high thermal loading combined with high frequency vibrations require a balance of stiffness and flexibility as well as oxidative stability of the elastomer over an extended lifetime. Dodecanediamine is ideally suited for providing the required balance of elastomer properties.
